During his homily at St. Peter’s Basilica on Sunday, Pope Leo XIV drew attention to the restless pace of modern life and urged Christians to serve the Kingdom of God with patience and depth of faith.
The Pope said:
“Dear brothers and sisters, in working with all our might in the service of the Kingdom of God, let us not be hasty and superficial. Let us dig deep, free from the criteria of the world which too often demands immediate results, because it does not know the wisdom of waiting.”
With these words, Pope Leo warned against humanity’s obsession with instant gratification. He reminded the faithful that the fruits of spiritual life are not seen immediately; they require patience, prayer, and inner depth. “God’s time works differently,” he noted, inviting believers to focus on lasting spiritual growth rather than short-term success.
This reflection by Pope Leo XIV highlights once more the importance of steadiness, silence, and interior work in Christian life. To wait is not merely to endure — it is to trust in the will of God.
