The Identity of the web site THEOTOKOS
The Archdiocese of Izmir in collaboration with EWTN, Catholic Global Network has created this Web site Theotokos, to Magnify the Lord, who has done great things for His handmaid, Virgin Mary. The Lord continues to shower His blessings over the Church and the whole Creation, the work of His hands.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Redeemer of the humanity. God chose Virgin Mary, full of Grace to be Theotokos, the mother of Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us. Virgin Mary is the first from among humans to say, ‘Yes’ to God’s plans of Salvation for humanity and she was the first to confess her faith in Jesus. She responded to the angel about the birth of Jesus. ‘Behold, I am the Lord’s handmaid: ‘May it happen to me according to your word.’ As the first disciple of Jesus Virgin Mary is the inspiration to all the disciples of Jesus for all ages. She accepted Jesus in the core of her being and reflected him in all her words and actions. She was witness of her faith in Jesus by becoming embodiment of God’s love and mercy. She fulfils her divine mission by always asking each one of us, ‘Do as He (Jesus) tells you.’ Like her each faithful by being in Communion with Jesus brings Jesus to their fellow human beings in the world through their love and care for the sick, hungry, homeless, lonely and the unloved.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the sanctifier. Before the creation of everything the divine spirit was hovering over the earth and by God’s word everything was created. With overshadowing of the Holy Spirit, Virgin Mary conceived baby Jesus in her womb and brought him to the world. On Pentecost the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and the presence of Virgin Mary with them, the apostles fearlessly witnessed the loving, healing and lifegiving presence of the Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit continue to guide, and Virgin Mary is an ongoing inspiration for the Church in all her endowers.
This Site dedicated to Virgin Mary will help the faithful to know and learn, love and honour, be inspired and promote devotion to Virgin Mary by becoming like her a humble, faithful and committed disciple of Jesus Christ. This Site will provide you articles and documentaries regarding various sanctuaries around the world.
